To be honest, I never had heard of Jack Green, so I looked him up. 58 Years of Rick Springfield 1962-2020 signature shirt Anyone that was in T. rex and The Pretty Things can’t be all bad. Still, I don’t know a single Jack Green song and don’t recall him getting any radio airplay in the Philly market in the 70s-80s. Rick Springfield is a soap star turned minor pop star. Jessie’s Girl is a great pop song one level above bubble gum. I’m not sure I know of anyone who is into Rick Springfield’s deep cuts. He’s a chicken finger rock star, as chicken fingers are always palatable but never aspirational. There is no need for artisanal chicken wings, nor is there a need for deep exploration of the Mellencamp catalog. It’s all fine, but none of it is great.
